Malaysia Personal Income Tax Microsimulation Model: MYI-Tax-Analyzer
The model is easy to use, giving the user a choice between a point-and-click graphical user interface (GUI), a command line interface (CLI), or a Python application programming interface (API), all of which provide access to the full range of model capabilities. The model is built using the open-source Tax Analyzer Framework that enables rapid microsimulation model development with minimal coding.
The data used by the model are extracted from confidential data provided to the World Bank by the Malaysia Ministry of Finance. The process for creating the data files needed by the model is such that the public repository does not include any data files containing tax filer information. Details of this process are presented in this tax data preparation document. In 2022, World Bank staff began to experiment with different ways of using household income survey data with the model. Details of this work are presented in this survey data preparation document.
Questions and Answers about the model are on the Q&A page.
