Using the Model via the Graphical User Interface
The graphical user interface (GUI) to the MYI-Tax-Analyzer
CLI guides you through the specification of a model
run (automatically generating a run specification file), executes the
run, and provides easy viewing of all resulting text output and graphs
in your default web browser. And, as described below, there is a
command-line tool myigds
that automates the preparation of Growdiff
statements.
Start the GUI using the myigui
tool, and read the Help page to
understand the GUI workflow.
The GUI is organized as a notebook in which each page is accessed by clicking on its tab.
When on the Run notebook page on a Mac computer (running MacOS Big Sur), the GUI appears as shown below. On a Windows computer the GUI would have the look and feel of a native Windows application.
Using the myigds
tool
The myigds
command-line tool prepares the Growdiff statements that
correspond to a projection of the annual levels of macroeconomic
variables that differs from the baseline projection built into the
model. An alternative projection is in a four-row CSV-formatted file
that typically would be generated in the spreadsheet program where the
alternative projections are being developed. After executing the
myigds
tool, the Growdiff run-specification-language statements
implied by the alternative projection are on the GUI clipboard and can
be included in the Growdiff Code Box by clicking on the Paste-Lines
button on the GUI Growdiff page. Execute the myigds --help
command
to get more information.
