Oriquartz aims to be a sound synthesis framework to make sound effects, atmospheres and musics in the context of video game creation.

The primary purpose of the project is to develop a simple framework that I can use to easily experiment with sound synthesis and explore simple, weird or eerie audio aesthetics.

It is about working with the most abstract data as possible, i.e. small volume with high level semantics and meaningful tinkering: functions, algorithms, models, parameters, curves, notes, etc. For example, sampling/recording is considered concrete data and is avoided.

It aims for real-time synthesis, because it is useful for a smooth editing experience and could be used for interactive synthesis. However, it might not achieve that goal reliably and still be interesting for ahead of time synthesis.

The framework aims to explore techniques like additive and subtractive synthesis, frequency modulation and, ultimately, physical modeling.
