To enhance the "sort by" experience, it would be nice to show the information in a searchable/sortable table structure. 
Datatables is just the right toolkit to do so.

Additionally, this table interface can be the starting point to add other repository information to the landing page.
Instead of only showing the names of the repositories/owner additional info can be shown in the other colums. 
I really miss simple things like 'last timeline change', 'users' ... general project statistics.
