The Platypus System is an amalgamation of different strategies meant to deliver:
- tremendous flexibility to add Feature Modules that are self contained software on hardware with their own resources and dedicated serial control and data channels with a simple protocol to integrate with the main Management Module
- complete security through isolation with no shared memory/disk/network directly between Feature Modules and no network to the Management Module
- hardware and energy usage scales in step with functionality, as each functions brings its own hardware resources
- easy upgrades and expansion with hotswap Feature Modules
The glossary is a fine place to start to understand the system components and acronym definitions. :)
The hardware architecture gives flexible capabilities that the software architecture is able to negotiate and blend together into an effective secure system.
