<em>vandermonde</em>creates the vandermonde matrix from the 
&lt;expr\_list&gt;.

This is the square matrix in which the (i,j)'th entry is 
&lt;expr\_list&gt;(i)^(j-1).

It has dimension n where n is the number of expressions.
