 Building LFS

This is about upgrading my Linux system, which was built a couple of years ago according to the recipes at http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/ (LFS). This will be my first attempt to rebuild a running LFS system in-place.

Building Another LFS - Introduction

I always said I was going to start the next LFS in the first half of 2017 - which is now (May 26, 2017) nearly over. At least I have now started.

The latest LFS/BLFS version is 8.0, and there aren't any LFS errata yet! We shall see.

Milestones

• LFS completed on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Rebuilds may be necessary due to issues with later parts of the process.
• BLFS completed on Friday, August 11, 2017. Rebuilds or extras may be necessary due to issues with later parts of the process.
• Other Software completed on Sunday, August 20, 2017. Rebuilds or extras may be necessary due to issues with later parts of the process. This list was always a bit subjective anyway.
• Changeover complete on Wednesday, September 06, 2017!
