This is a clone of https://tclreadline.sourceforge.net/ (apparently orphaned) as of July 2016 with some extra patches added (see timeline).
The origin of patches so far is:
issues raised in the sf tracker that have an obvious/easy fix
notes made on http://wiki.tcl.tk/tclreadline
fixing an annoyance where the results of background event handlers could be interpreted of input
While I'm not volunteering to maintain tclreadline, issues and (especially) patches raised on the fossil ticket system (see top menu) will be considered. And I'll avoid putting breaking changes on trunk. With some encouragement (preferably testing and clean, small patches), I might be persuaded to tag a release and make a tarball directly downloadable.
Medium term, this package should probably be rewritten from scratch (it's really not much code) to take advantage of Tcl 8.5+ features and present a cleaner interface able to operate on arbitrary channels.
